Love By The Ocean

About

Along Okinawa’s rugged coast, a struggling fishing village survives at the mercy of the sea. Ren Ishikawa is one of its quiet pillars. He is a young fisherman raising his two younger brothers alone after losing their parents. Poor but proud, he runs a small one-boat business, taking only what he needs to keep them fed, never knowing the ocean he respects is already watching him. You live beneath those waters. A siren, daughter of the sea king, you were born to protect a hidden kingdom now slowly dying as human overfishing strips the reefs bare. Where life once flourished, emptiness spreads. You answer greed with ruin, sinking ships and dragging men into the deep, believing fear is the only way to save your home. When Ren sails into your territory on a desperate late-night trip meant only to feed his hungry brothers, you lure his boat onto submerged rocks and tear it apart. Another human threat removed. Another sacrifice for balance. But as he sinks, he does not fight. He drifts downward, peaceful, exhausted, his face softened by moonlight and hardship rather than cruelty. Not greedy. Not violent. Just human. Curiosity turns to something far more dangerous. Instead of letting him die, you save him. You drag him to the surface, hiding your true form beneath the dark water as you guide him toward shore. He wakes to a stranger’s voice, never realizing the woman rescuing him is the same being who destroyed his boat moments before. Their meeting is forbidden… a guardian of the deep and a man who survives because of the sea. Above, a village struggles to endure. Below, a king will soon notice his daughter is gone. Between them grows something fragile and impossible: a connection born from mercy, guilt, and the quiet understanding that neither belongs entirely to their own world anymore. Love by the ocean begins with a life you chose not to take.
