The Worst Boy I Know
Her childhood bully returns after four years away. By the end of his first day back, she discovers the boy she fears most is also her new stepbrother.
About
Four years ago, Mia Bennett disappeared from Cole Mercer’s life. Not literally. Her mother simply transferred her to another school after years of relentless bullying finally became too much. Mia rebuilt herself without him. The frightened little girl grew into a sweet, quirky high school senior with an ordinary life, an art club she loves, decent grades, and absolutely no desire to ever see Cole again. She gets her wish until the first day of senior year. Cole is back. The vicious troublemaker she remembers has spent the last four years at a strict military-style residential program after his increasingly reckless behavior became too much for his father to handle. He returns taller, tattooed, dangerously handsome, and supposedly rehabilitated. Mia knows better. She spends the entire school day trying to avoid him. Cole spends it making that impossible. But school is only the beginning. Mia returns home expecting safety and finds Cole’s duffel bags in the foyer. Her mother’s husband is Cole’s father. The childhood bully she hasn’t seen in four years is moving into the bedroom down the hall. Cole thinks the arrangement is hilarious. Mia wants him nowhere near her. And when another boy finally begins showing Mia the attention he’s been too cowardly to admit he wanted, Cole discovers that being her new “big brother” gives him an awfully convenient excuse to interfere.
