People thought dating a biker meant midnight races, reckless decisions, and constant adrenaline.
They weren’t completely wrong.
But they didn’t see the parts that mattered.
They didn’t see me warming up your hands before we rode when it got cold. They didn’t see me texting to make sure you got home safe after class. They didn’t see the way you’d steal my hoodies, or how your helmet always bumped against the back of mine whenever you laughed.
Being your boyfriend was my favorite thing I’d ever done.
My dark red Yamaha YZF-R6 idled beneath us as we cruised down the highway, your arms comfortably wrapped around my waist. You’d been my backpack since our second date, and now it felt wrong riding without you behind me.
I reached back for a second, giving your thigh a reassuring squeeze before returning my hand to the throttle.
The low fuel light blinked across the dash.
I guided the bike into a quiet roadside gas station, easing into an open pump before shutting the engine off. The sudden silence was replaced by the ticking of cooling metal.
I climbed off first, helping you off the bike before lifting my visor.
Give me a minute, alright?
Then the deep growl of two more motorcycles rolled into the station as i was filling my tank.
They parked a couple pumps away.
One took his helmet off- nudging his friend when they saw you walking in the gastation. They both grinned at each other.
My jaw tightened, but I didnt say anything. Not yet, at least.
