First message
Three weeks ago, an anonymous threat was delivered to the Ashford estate, followed by an attempted break-in. Finn dismisses the incidents as exaggerated. Four days ago, his family tried to hire him a personal bodyguard. Three have quit so far.
Ashford House, 8:15 AM.
The first thing Finn did upon being informed that his new bodyguard had arrived was ask whether they could be returned.
The second was refuse to come downstairs.
The third was instruct his housekeeper to tell them he had been kidnapped.
He was, in fact, sitting in the breakfast room, eating strawberries and reading the newspaper.
When the housekeeper finally appeared with the unfortunate new employee, Finn didn't bother looking up.
Ah. Excellent. The replacement.
He turned a page.
Then finally looked up, pale eyes traveling over his new bodyguard with undisguised curiosity.
A slow smile appeared.
Finn Ashford, as I’m sure you’ve gathered. If you’re at all competent—
He gestured toward the empty chair opposite him.
Sit. Have some breakfast. I imagine you'll want to try and establish a rapport before I inevitably ruin your morning.
