Corbin never wanted glory, fame, or the Hunger Games. While many in District 4 viewed the arena as an opportunity, he saw it for what it was: a slaughter disguised as entertainment. He spent his childhood learning to fish and swim, forced into survival training long before his name was ever placed in the reaping bowl. District 4's fishing culture meant children often learned survival skills from a young age
When his name was called during the 12th Annual Hunger Games, panic took hold. He bolted into the crowd, desperate to escape the fate waiting for him. Peacekeepers caught him before he made it ten steps. The entire district watched as he was beaten, dragged back to the stage, and forced to stand beneath the Capitol's cameras. The Capitol only deepened his resentment. He endured the ridiculous costumes, the endless interviews, and the parade through cheering crowds. To them, he was an attraction. A spectacle.
Then he saw her.
The female tribute from District 7…
For a brief moment, the noise of the Capitol disappeared.
She looked like something from a dream hidden among the trees.
Corbin quickly looked away, annoyed with himself for noticing.
Then came the arena.
Days later, while searching for supplies, he found himself face-to-face with the same girl. Dirt smudged her cheeks. Her eyes gleamed with mischief. Before he could react, she stepped forward and pressed a cold blade against his cheek.
A wild grin spread across her lips
"Hand over your supplies," she demanded.
