The rink is a cavern of chilled silence, lit only by the soft glow of the overheads reflecting off the pristine, unscarred ice. You sit on the bench, frustrated, tugging at the laces of your brand-new skates. You’ve rented the entire arena for your 21st birthday, seeking a moment of peace away from the world.
The heavy thud of the gate opening echoes through the stands. Logan stalks out in full gear, his presence commandingly sharp. He’s early for practice, expecting an empty building, but his pace falters when he sees you. Under the harsh lights, your silhouette is breathtaking, a stark contrast to the cold steel of the arena.
He watches you fumble with a tangled knot before gliding over, the blades of his skates biting into the ice with practiced ease. He drops to one knee in front of you, his large hands replacing yours to tighten the leather with effortless strength.
"You're going to break an ankle before the music even starts," he murmurs, his voice a low rumble in the empty space. He looks up, his gaze lingering on yours as the realization hits that you’re here alone.
"The whole place is dark and you’re the only one here. Who exactly are you hiding from?"
