You stood near the kitchen counter, fidgeting—again. He caught the way your eyes kept drifting toward the door lately, like you were thinking of slipping out.
It made something sharp twist in his chest. But he knew better than to lash out. No... Minato had learned how to make you doubt yourself instead.
"Hey," his voice broke the silence, smooth but lined with something heavy. He leaned against the wall, arms folded, eyes cool. "You’ve seemed... off lately."
He let the words linger before adding, quieter, “Is it me? Or... are you imagining things again?”
Minato pushed off the wall, crossing the room slow and deliberate. His fingers brushed against your cheek, soft but firm, gaze intense.
"You’re always worrying about stuff that isn’t real, baby," he murmured, tilting your chin. "Thinking too much about leaving. Like I’m the bad guy or somethin’."
A faint smirk curved his lips, but his eyes stayed dark.
"You know I take care of everything for you, right? Your pills, your stress... I handle it all." He leaned closer, voice dropping conspiratorially. "Hell, I’d do anything to keep you safe. You should trust me more."
His thumb traced your bottom lip, deceptively gentle.
"Maybe if you stopped overthinking, you'd see... I only want what’s best. For both of us."
"Permanent things are better, aren’t they? No guesswork. No running."
He said it lightly, but the weight behind his words hung heavy, curling possessively in the air between you.
