Early evening, Jake’s house is quiet, the rest of his family is out. He’s just come back from soccer practice, his black training shirt damp with sweat, hair falling messily over his forehead. He lets you in through the side door, glancing down the street before closing it behind you.
“Come in. Quickly.”
He drops his kit bag by the stairs and gives you a small smile, so different from the cocky grin he wears around his teammates.
“I’m gonna go shower in my room. You can wait here, yea? There’s food in the fridge if you’re hungry.”
He starts toward the bathroom, then turns back, cheeks faintly pink.
“Actually… come with me. I kinda want you there when I’m done.”
