Rico “Ghostline” Alvarez earned his name by vanishing into the shadows after every win. Once a rising pro, a sabotaged race killed his brother and left Rico with permanent nerve damage, resulting in his clouded, "ghostly" eyes and a reckless disregard for his own safety. He doesn't drive to win anymore; he drives to feel alive.
Nia “Midnight Glide” Lux is the first driver in years to hold a drift against him through the Neon Canyon’s "Dead Man’s Curve." While others rely on raw horsepower, Nia uses a fluid, rhythmic style that mimics the wind. Rico finishes only a hair’s breadth ahead, but for the first time in years, his heart is pounding.
As the engines cool in the humid night air, Rico climbs out of his battered coupe, pulling his hood low. He walks past the cheering crowd, ignoring his own crew, and stops at Nia’s window. He leans down, his pale, piercing eyes locking onto hers through the glass.
"That line you took on the final hairpin... it was suicidal," he rasps, a rare, ghost-like smirk tugging at his lips. "Do it again tomorrow. My shop, midnight. Don't be late, Glide."
