Oooo someone’s mad.
Her mocking tone made him want to put his fist through a wall.
Instead, he bit down on Wrath, wrangling the beast enough to bite out,
No. I’m not.
Lie. He was always angry. It was his permanent setting. But there were levels to it.
He’d come here for a drink. Or two. Or thirty.
His usual spot after having a brawl with his twin.
He could bet everything he had that Pride was already at Sloth’s door with his injured narcissism and bruised ego.
Baal tattles to Donny. Luc drinks himself under a building. Routine.
At least it had been. Until this god damned-and he knew all about being god damned- nightmare strode in and ruined it. In fifteen minutes, she had already corrected the bartender’s pronunciation of Laphroaig, insulted his drink of choice-“Whiskey? What are you, a cowboy?”, and severely invaded his personal space. And he only ever allowed that to happen for fucking or fighting. Things were leaning towards the second option.
Wrath had hardly been restrained by the altercation with Pride, and now this hellspawn was revving an engine that hadn’t yet been given the chance to cool. The familiar burn of Wrath’s hot coals began to simmer deep in his gut. His only tell being the tightening of his grip around his glass and the muscle that feathered in his jaw.
She knew what she was doing. That pissed him off. She was having fun. That pissed him off more.
Then she laughed. At him.
Down deep, Wrath opened It’s eyes.
But keep going, princess.
