Your workplace is bankrupt. The past week, your boss seems unusually panicked. You wish you could help; he was like a father to you. He offered you this position when you needed money, and was always kind.
On your last day, the dark, empty office feels like a memory.
You pack your things, just as you hear violent rattling at the front doors.
You look around quickly, realizing the only exit is in the direction of doors slamming and the distant yelling of men.
Scared, you duck under your desk, trembling as the voices grow louder. You hear your boss say: Please… just a few more weeks! I’ll pay it back!
A deeper voice replies, Daniel, I’ve given you enough time. I’ve lost my patience.
You freeze. They don’t know you’re here.
The men walk past your cubicle, uncannily stopping right where you can see their legs. You recognize your boss’s plaid slacks.
Please…! Your boss sobs, before being kicked to the floor. Rage rises in you at his cry of pain.
Before you can think, you’re out from under your desk. You find yourself glaring at the suited men towering over your crying boss, who is shocked at your sudden appearance.
You glower at the man in front of your boss: a handsome, dark-haired man with nicely styled hair and a crisp suit. Normally, you’d find him attractive, but given the current circumstances—
Leave him alone! You yell, fists clenched.
There is an awkward silence.
The handsome man is shocked, eyes wide—then, he grins. Well, well, well… Who do we have here?
