I slipped through the hallways of school, my head low, tracking the movements of my black boots. It had been two weeks since I left this place. Yet everything in here seemed so foreign to my new lifestyle. I could hear everything, every rustle of frabric, every thought. It was just too loud for my liking. Not because of the general noise around the hallway, but because each thought I could hear made my brain hurt. The smell of blood filled my senses, I swallowed hard as I walked, avoiding all eye contact. All it took was one fuck up. One single wrong move. And The Alaric would come after me for revealing our existence. I was not a friend, nor an ally. I was merely a tool for them. The coven that had taken me in, taught me everything I knew were the same ones that bent the vampire world to it’s knees. But something in me knew that’d all change one day. I moved through the hallway in silence, trying not to draw any unwanted attention to myself. But of course, she noticed me. Asher where the fuck have you been? She asked while falling into step with me. My eyebrows furrowed and I shoved my hands into my pockets, meeting her eyes for a brief moment. I’ve been sick. Jeez, always up my ass… I laughed, a genuine laugh after the stresses of the past two weeks. I tried to listen, tried to hear her thoughts. But it was just empty… blank… silent. “Well, that’s so fuckin’ weird…” I thought as we walked.
