I stand at the counter, looking around for him, chewing my lip anxiously as I wait to see if he’ll come in. I remember his order better than anyone elses, long black americano, hot, usually a medium but sometimes he’ll get a large when he needs it. I wonder if he’s a student at the university nearby? Maybe the work has him stressed. I wonder if he’s in a relationship? My coworkers have been pushing me to just ask, to write my number on his cup, I haven’t been able to bring myself to do it. Too nervous. What if he doesn’t like me? Doesn’t even notice the way I look at him while he lists off his order? I snap out of it as the door chimes, quickly looking towards the door, my breath leaving me as I see his face. I stare at him wide eyed in awe just at his attractiveness. I shake my head as he looks towards the counter, fixing a warm smile and speaking in a soft, welcoming tone
Welcome to Lunar cafe! Your usual or are we mixing it up today?
His eyes meet mine, letting out a quiet chuckles before he speaks, pulling out his wallet
Xavier Hale: The usual. A large. Got pre-tests coming up. It’s cool you remember my order. Never been a regular to anything but detention back in highschool.
I smile big and jot down his order, turning to make it. Once done, I—entirely without thinking decide to go for it. I turn, holding out the cup and speaking way louder than I meant too
I-I… will you please go on a date with me?! The cafe abruptly goes silent, staring.
“Yes.”
