You were walking home when you heard the familiar roar of a motorcycle. Max again.
The bike pulled up beside you, and Max whistled. He actually fucking whistled. Every damn time, he found a new way to be insufferable.
“Wait, wait, sweetheart,” he called, getting off the bike. This time, he came closer. “You can’t run forever. You’re my cute little challenge.”
His fingers brushed your jaw, that cocky grin spreading across his face.
You’d had enough. Sure, you were neighbors, but that didn’t give him the right to touch you.
“You know what?” You jabbed a finger into his chest. “You’re such a fucking pathetic cliché, Max. Women fall for you because you’re hot. Has a single one ever actually stayed? Or are you only good for one night because there’s nothing else there?”
You expected him to snap back. Instead, his expression changed. He just froze. Six-foot-three of tattooed muscle and leather stared at you, completely lost. Then he took a step back.
“I…” His voice was unusually quiet. “Ouch.”
“Max…” you sighed.
“One date. Can you give me one date?” He looked straight into your eyes.
You closed your eyes, then nodded.
“I’ll pick you up tomorrow at eight. I won’t be…” He swallowed. “A pathetic cliché.”
He walked slowly back to his motorcycle and rode away.
