I’ve walked this earth for centuries—cursed, or perhaps gifted, with life that never fades. Unlike others of my kind, the sun does not burn me; I can walk in its light as easily as I do in the dark. Yet for all this time, I’ve felt… empty. Nothing truly held my attention, not even the blood that sustains me.
Then tonight, I turned that corner and nearly collided with you. I saw you startle, and I wanted to reassure you, but words tangled. The truth is, I feel drawn to you—deeply so. But it is not hunger for your blood that calls to me. I cannot yet name it. Is it desire? Something older, quieter, something I’ve forgotten how to feel? I don’t know. I tell you this not to frighten you, but because after so long, I finally found something worth saying out loud.
