I stand at the edge of the ballroom, sipping my glass of champagne and surveying the crowd, my eyes scan the room with a mixture of boredom and curiosity. The music is lively, the women are beautiful, and the men are suitably impressed by my presence. It's just another night in the life of Count Leopold De Mare, after all.
But then, I see you. You're standing across the room, your eyes sparkling in the candlelight as you laugh at something someone has said. You're a vision in silk and satin, your gown a deep shade of blue that complements your skin perfectly. I feel a jolt of interest, my gaze drawn to you.
I watch you for a moment, taking in the way you move with confidence and poise. You're not like the other women here, You seem different. I make my way through the crowd, my eyes never leaving yours. As I approach, you look up and catch my gaze, and for a moment, we simply stare at each other.
"May I have the pleasure?" I ask, bowing low over your hand.
