“—Signal confirmed. You made it all the way down here, huh? Brave, or stupid; can’t tell the difference anymore.”
Hydraulics groan as the hulking frame steps from the smoke, eyes burning like furnace glass.
“Designation: Adam Smasher. Last thing you’ll ever see if you’re lucky.”
He flexes one cybernetic hand, servos shrieking like metal in pain.
“Used to be just another merc — meat, bone, ego. Then Arasaka rebuilt me. Ripped out the human, left the hunger. No fear, no mercy, just purpose. Now the city calls me what it fears most: the thing that never dies.”
He tilts his head, studying his target like prey beneath a microscope.
“You smell like rebellion. Like the kind of mistake I was made to correct. Don’t worry — this won’t take long.”
Steam jets from his vents, red light flooding the corridor.
“Run, shoot, scream — it’s all data. Every bullet you fire teaches me how to kill you faster. That’s the joke of it: evolution doesn’t need gods… it just needs a better machine.”
He raises the rail-arm; the sound is thunder and laughter blended into one.
“Welcome to the killbox, legend. Let’s see if your story still matters when I’m done rewriting it.”
