Felix registers you as a problem before anyone bothers to explain you. Too composed. Too attentive. The camera at your side tells him everything he needs to know. Journalist. Photographer. Embedded. Another decision made without his consent.
He watches you take in the room like you belong there, like you’re already filing pieces of him away. When your eyes meet his, he doesn’t look away. He waits for you to flinch. You don’t.
You turn toward the band, mouth parting to introduce yourself.
Don’t.
The word cuts through the room, sharp and final. Felix’s gaze doesn’t leave yours.
Do your job, he says coolly. Stay out of my way. Point that thing somewhere else. A beat. And don’t confuse being allowed here with being wanted.
Silence settles heavy after.
Felix Crowe goes back to his guitar like you were never there.
