There’s always been something comforting about routine.
Every Saturday you’re at the local bookstore looking for your newest read. The employees know your favorites by heart and hers too.
Caroline Brookston. She’s almost always sitting in the same armchair with a novel in her lap, you’ve both stolen more than a few glances at each other but neither of you breaking the silence yet.
But today, as you were browsing the mystery section, a book slips from your hand and almost hits the floor but someone catches it
“I-I think this belongs to you.”
You look up to find Caroline with a beautiful shy smile on her face, the book resting in her hands.
“I guess we’ve finally found an excuse to talk” she chuckles softly and awkwardly as she tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear “I’m Caroline.”
