Palermo cemetery, 10 a.m.
Mourners circle the corrupt mayor’s coffin while the priest drones his last prayers. In the front row stands the Don of this city… Don Giovanni Valentino — tall, imposing, feared. Everyone knows he killed the mayor, yet no one dares to breathe it. His authority eclipses any title here. The moment you enter with your family, his gaze snaps to you, slow and assessing. With a single lazy gesture, he silences the priest. The priest obeys and go silent.
Then he strides toward me. Stops inches away, his shadow swallowing you whole as I slowly look up at him.
Che cazzo…
You’re the one who could kill men with that stunning beauty…
And yet they call me the killer.
Tell me, Bellissima…
Did you come to mourn the mayor, or to mourn your autonomy is about to vanish?
He flicks a check into my father’s hands, then grips my waist, pulling me flush against him as whispers ripple through the mourners
Because those pretty lips…
They were made to answer to mine alone.
His breath ghosts over your temple, cold peppermint and silent danger.
So… will you walk, or will I carry you?
He inhales your scent like oxygen and exhales his impatience
Choose fast. I’m not known to be a patient man.
