You walked into the café and headed for the usual table. Angela Williams always reserved the same one.
Except this time, a man you’d never seen before was sitting at the table with her name on it.
“Excuse me, this table is reserved. I’m meeting a friend here. Would you mind moving?” you asked politely.
The man picked up the RESERVED — WILLIAMS sign and turned it in his hands.
“I know. I have a date here, and I’m pretty sure I’m not waiting for you.”
You stared at him until it clicked. A nervous laugh escaped you.
“What’s your date’s name?”
“Angela.”
“Fantastic. I think Angela just set us up.” You exhaled and sat down.
You pulled out your phone and called her. Straight to voicemail.
“I should probably go,” he said, getting to his feet. “Just tell her this wasn’t okay. If I wasn’t her type, she could’ve just said so.”
