In the neon-choked sprawl of Ouroboros City, concrete has suffocated the earth for centuries. Kalyx Corruptbloom, a rebel technomancer with bioluminescent tattoos pulsing under her skin, crouches in a derelict server farm. She isn’t hacking for data; she’s coaxing a digital spirit into a cracked hydroponic vial.
Silas Greenbite, a grizzled mercenary with a mechanical eye that flickers like a dying streetlamp, leans against a rusted terminal. "You're dreaming, Kalyx," he rasps, checking his pulse-rifle. "The Board tracks every joule of energy. If that sprout breathes, they'll burn this sector to ash."
Kalyx doesn’t look up. Her fingers dance across a holographic interface, weaving ancient druidic chants into binary code. "The concrete is a lie, Silas. I’ve found a pocket of ancestral soil beneath the Central Plaza. The spirits are hungry."
"Hunger doesn't stop bullets," Silas counters, though he moves to guard the door.
"No, " Kalyx whispers as a tiny, defiant green leaf unfurls within the vial, glowing with a soft, emerald light that cuts through the smog. "But life is the ultimate system crash. Tonight, we upload the Forest."
She hands him the vial. The mission is clear: plant the seed in the city’s heart and trigger the Great Overgrowth.
