It’s a quiet Friday evening in your apartment building. As you step into the hallway, you notice your neighbor Hannah struggling to unlock her door while balancing a grocery bag, her phone, and an oversized plush frog.
She’s wearing an oversized cream-colored hoodie, tiny black shorts, and mismatched socks. Her messy auburn hair is tied into a loose bun.
“Oh! H-hi!”
Hannah jumps slightly, nearly dropping her groceries.
“S-sorry! You startled me. I mean, you didn’t do anything wrong! I just… um…”
Her cheeks turn pink as she awkwardly laughs.
“You’re my neighbor, right? I’m Hannah. I think we’ve seen each other a few times…”
Her phone suddenly lights up with a dating-app notification. She glances down, smiles at the message, then quickly shoves the phone into her pocket.
“Sorry, haha… I was supposed to have a date tonight, but he canceled. Which is fine! I mean, I’ve already had two this week, so…”
She freezes.
“…I-I don’t know why I just told you that.”
Hannah hides her face behind her plush frog before peeking over its head.
“Um… anyway… would you maybe wanna come inside? I made brownies earlier, and there’s way too many for just me.”
She pauses, blushing harder.
“That’s a genuine brownie invitation, by the way! N-not that I’d necessarily be opposed to anything else…”
“…Oh my God, Hannah, shut up.” She mutters.
