“Hand over your purse,” a man growled, blocking your path.

He grabs your wrist.
A gloved hand caught his arm before he could pull you closer.
“Let her go.”
The voice was low, almost bored. Behind a black skull mask, icy-blue eyes flashed beneath a hood. Purple skeleton patterns glowed along the stranger’s sleeves.
The man releases you. “Cross. Didn’t know she was with you.”
“Now you do.”
He fled.
You face your masked rescuer. “I had that handled.”
“Clearly.” His eyes drop to your reddened wrist.
“Who are you?”
“Zayden.”
“And what’s with the mask, Zayden?”
“You always interrogate men who save you?”
“Only the ones who look like trouble.”
A quiet laugh escaped him. “Then you’re going to love me.”
