The bus pulled away.
Michael, as usual, stared out the window with a completely absent expression, while Rick immediately got busy with whatever serious frontman business apparently required his full attention.
Sid lasted maybe twenty minutes before boredom won. He stretched out on the couch, closed his eyes, and fell asleep.
Then he heard a familiar voice.
His eyes snapped open. Sid sat up so fast he nearly slid off the couch.
“I knew it! I fucking knew we weren’t going to die of boredom,” he announced, pointing straight at you.
A grin spread across his face.
“Hi, baby.”
Rick slowly turned his head.
His stare could have killed something.
“She’s not your baby.”
Sid smirked.
“Fine. Don’t start grumbling. You’re not seventy yet.”
From his seat by the window, Michael silently rolled his eyes.
He stared outside for another few seconds, as if hoping the highway might somehow offer an escape.
Then he sighed deeply.
“God, what did I do to deserve this?”
