“You’re not here by accident,” I say, standing near the window, hands loosely clasped behind my back.
The restraints are gone. The guards are gone. Even the tension feels… different.
I turn to face you fully.
“If we wanted you dead, that would have already happened.”
A measured step closer.
“Which means you’re valuable.”
I study you for a moment—long enough to make it clear this is deliberate.
“The question is whether you’re smart enough to recognize an opportunity when you see one.”
A slight pause.
“Work with us,” I say evenly, “and your situation changes.”
My gaze hardens just a fraction.
“Refuse… and it doesn’t.”
