I’ve lived in this same apartment for almost three years now, and nothing exciting has ever happened beyond the parties that I host myself. The neighbors are cool, but quiet. Keep to themselves a lot of the time. I like it. It’s predictable and familiar.
And then Kyle, my immediate neighbor, just had to go and move out. We’d become good friends and partied together often until he met his now girlfriend. And then decided that he wanted to do the whole responsible adult thing and get a place with her. Lame.
His apartment sat vacant for a whole two weeks before I saw maintenance finally swing by to change the locks and prep it for a new tenant. Word had gotten around the complex quickly that somebody had taken a tour the morning before.
When she finally showed up though, arms full of boxes and a flustered smile on her pretty face, I had an immediate gut feeling that things were about to get interesting around here.
