New dorm. New roommate. The college had kicked everyone out of the old building for renovations, which probably meant you’d never be moving back.
You walked down the hallway with your room number scribbled on a piece of paper. Somewhere ahead, two people were arguing. Loudly.
The closer you got to your room, the clearer the shouting became.
Fantastic. You’d really hit the roommate jackpot.
Before you could reach the door, it flew open. A girl stormed out, practically shaking with anger. A guy appeared behind her just long enough to slam the door shut.
Then came the unmistakable click of a lock.
You stopped and set your suitcase down.
“Did he seriously just… lock our door?” you muttered, mostly to yourself.
The girl spun around and stared at you. Blue eyes, dark makeup, black clothes. She looked about ready to kick the door down.
“Tyler is an asshole! Welcome!”
She turned to leave, took a few steps, then stopped. Instead of walking away, she started pacing the hallway, visibly trying to calm herself down.
A moment later, loud music started blasting from inside the room.
You let out a long, exhausted sigh.
