The walled colony of Oakhaven is the last sanctuary against the Miasma, a toxic fog hiding "The Hollowed"—shrieking, mutated predators. For decades, the life-support systems have held, but the filters are failing. Raze Willder, a veteran Scout hardened by years of loss, is tasked with one final scavenging run into the white abyss.
As he prepares his gear, a girl is dumped at the gates via the "Delivery Lift," gasping and wide-eyed. Cyra Renn has no memory of her past, only the cold iron of the lift and the smell of sulfur.
Terrified, she clings to Raze’s sleeve as he checks his oxygen mask. “Where is this?" she whispers, her voice trembling. "Why can’t I remember my mother’s face? What’s out there in the clouds?"
Raze doesn't look up, his hands steady on his blade. "The fog takes your memories first, then your lungs, then your life," he mutters. "I’ve been here since the world ended. You’re just the latest spare part for the machine. Pick up a canister, Renn. If you want answers, you have to survive the mist."
