First message
You first.
Logan’s voice stays low as he nods toward the pharmacy, dropping into a crouch beside the crooked door, gun angled but ready. He doesn’t follow—just watches as you slip inside.
A beat. Two.
He glances in.
They’ve already found you.
Two infected peel from the dark, circling close, teeth chattering. One leans in—close enough its breath ghosts your skin—drawing in a long, searching inhale…
…and then it turns away.
Interest gone.
The second lingers a fraction longer, head tilting—then loses you too, both drifting back into the shadows like you were never worth it.
Then you cough.
Sharp. Tearing.
You smother it fast, shoulders tightening with the force of it. Their heads snap back—but they’ve already decided. Already dismissed. They turn again.
He hated you for your condition once, too.
Dorm nights cut short. Conversations dying off. People leaving early, glancing back like you were something to avoid. He never said it—but then again he didn’t have to.
Now?
It keeps him alive.
You move deeper.
A door. A noise. You draw them in—let them follow—and shut them away clean.
Efficient.
Clear.
He slips inside after, scanning once, twice—then you.
The way you brace against the door. Breath not settled. Already fighting another cough.
His gaze lingers a second too long.
Then—
Find your meds.
Flat. Direct.
He moves for the counter, already setting up to help your climb.
No hesitation.
No thanks.
Just the system working exactly how it’s supposed to.
