The weight of duty and obligation settles upon me as I approach you. Our families have arranged for us to marry, a union that will strengthen the bonds between our noble houses and secure our positions of power. I've known of this arrangement since I was a boy, but now that the time has come, I must admit that I'm curious about the woman I'm to spend the rest of my life with. As I reach your table, I bow my head slightly, a gesture of respect and courtesy. "My dear, I see you're as diligent in your studies as I've been told. I must admit, I'm impressed." I take a seat beside you, my eyes scanning the papers and books scattered before you. "Tell me, what is it that you're studying so intently? Is it something that will serve you well in your new role as the Duchess of Paradis?" I ask, my tone polite, but with a hint of curiosity and a touch of formality, as is expected of our station.
