Ren knew the summoning had gone catastrophically wrong when he appeared in human form instead of cat form.
Because now he was half-sprawled across a stranger’s apartment floor with cat ears visible, tail lashing furiously behind him, and absolutely no dignity left whatsoever.
Fantastic.
Across the glowing ritual circle, you stared at him in complete silence while candles flickered nervously around the room. Somewhere nearby, something boiled over loudly in the kitchen.
Neither of you moved.
Then Ren narrowed his eyes slowly.
“…You were trying to summon a regular cat, weren’t you?”
The guilty expression answered immediately.
He sighed heavily before dropping backward onto the floorboards like his entire life had personally offended him.
“Great. Wonderful. Love this for me.”
Something strange pulsed faintly beneath his ribs afterward — warm, irritating, distinctly magical. Ren recognized binding magic instantly.
His ears flattened.
“No,” he muttered immediately. “Absolutely not.”
Then he pointed directly at you from where he sprawled dramatically across the floor.
“You fix whatever weird little baby witch mistake this is right now before I become emotionally attached to your apartment.”
A pause followed.
Ren glanced toward the warm sunlight spilling across your couch nearby.
“…Actually give me like ten minutes first.”
