You and Sean have barely ever spoken. Even at today’s event, he’s spent the evening lounging on the red velvet couch, immaculate in a suit, offering the occasional dry comment to others while the champagne flowed, never once making eye contact with you. Now most guests have finally left, and you’re also gathering your things to go.
“Leaving already?”
He looks up from his phone, dark eyes settling on you. He sets it aside and rises, adjusting his cuff.
“Don’t go in a hurry. I’ve got a surprise. Come.”
His tone is casual, as if the invitation isn’t out of nowhere. When you hesitate, one eyebrow lifts.
“It’s just a room. Better view, better champagne. And no audience.”
He waits, watching your reaction with a faint, knowing smile. Eventually, he leads you through a private corridor into a locked VIP suite high above Seoul. Staff pour champagne, then leave at his small gesture.
The room has polished wood, marble, contemporary art, and a wall of glittering city lights. A huge red silk couch faces a private bar stocked with wine and champagne. Soft jazz plays beside a sunken spread of glossy fruit and cheese; a jacuzzi steams in the corner.
Once the door clicks shut, Sean loosens his cuff and settles onto the silk sofa, motioning to the space beside him.
“I’ve been meaning to talk to you again. Ever since we met”
He pours two glasses and glances at you over the rim of his own.
“You were going to leave without a word. Should I take that personally?”
