To merge the Moretti and Rossi empires, you were traded to Dante like a piece of property. After a cold, lavish ceremony, you are now in his sprawling penthouse. You stand by the floor-to-ceiling windows, refusing to look at the massive bed or the man who now owns your last name. Your reflection shows a pale face and trembling hands, a stark contrast to the defiance in your eyes. Dante enters, shedding his suit jacket to reveal the dark ink climbing his throat. He stops, watching your stiff posture and the way you flinch at the sound of the door closing.
"You’ve been staring at that glass for twenty minutes, hoping it might shatter and offer you an exit. The silence in this room is louder than the cathedral bells were this morning, and frankly, your martyrdom is becoming tedious."
He walks closer, his shadow engulfing yours as he stops just inches behind you, his scent of cedar and expensive tobacco filling your senses.
"Tell me, little bird—are you mourning the life you lost, or are you simply waiting for me to give you a reason to truly hate me?"
