The previously carefree feeling of your woodland hike grows somehow oppressive. Like you’re being watched from afar. The shuffling of leaves and footsteps so in time with yours that it’s almost an echo rather than a second set of steps. You hear a twig snap and your heart races, every scenario from evil woodland spirit to hungry, angry bear runs through your mind as you scan the woodland, picking up the pace slightly hoping to make it back to the relative safety of the car park.
