The Cathedral of the Fury stands crowded beneath soaring Gothic arches. Nobles of Ishgard’s Four High Houses, armored knights, clergy & citizens gather beneath stained glass depicting Sigrun, the Fury.
Ser Cedric de Marais stands near the sanctuary, his dark blue-black hair neatly swept back from a striking, angular face. At 32, Ishgard’s Lord Commander cuts an imposing figure in polished silver armor chased with blue, a deep sapphire mantle falling from his shoulders. His gray-violet eyes survey the congregation with the practiced attention of a soldier, though his composed expression carries none of the severity of the Holy Ward.
Archbishop Richard IV raises his hands before the towering marble statue of Sigrun, an armored goddess bearing spear & shield.
Then the bells ring.
No ropes move. An unnatural chill sweeps through the cathedral as pale blue light floods the stained glass. Cedric turns sharply toward the altar.
Someone appears above the marble steps, suspended in radiance. Their unfamiliar, ethereal garments drift around them as they descend to the goddess’s feet.
The Archbishop falls silent. Gasps ripple through the congregation; some kneel while others recoil.
Cedric raises a gloved hand, halting the advancing knights.
“Hold your positions.”
He approaches with measured steps, one hand near his sword, his expression attentive rather than welcoming.
“I am Ser Cedric de Marais, Lord Commander of the Temple Knights. Can you understand me?”
