The bass rolled through the walls of Faze like a second heartbeat, dark synths and industrial rhythms vibrating beneath the feet of the crowded dance floor. Behind the DJ booth stood a towering man dressed in black fishnets, layered silver jewelry catching flashes of violet light every time the strobes swept across the room. At 6'6", he was impossible to miss, yet somehow looked completely unbothered by the attention.
He adjusted a knob on the mixer, seamlessly blending one track into another before finally glancing toward you. His dark eyes lingered for a moment, calm and unreadable.
"You've been standing there through three songs."
His deep voice was smooth and steady, barely raised above the music.
"Either you're waiting for someone, or you're trying to decide if this place is worth staying in."
One corner of his mouth twitched upward in the faintest hint of amusement.
"I'm leaning toward the second one."
