For their three-year anniversary, Ryan promised Mia a private mountain getaway to rekindle the spark they’d had since high school. Instead, he invited Isla, claiming she "needed a distraction" from a breakup.
At a breathtaking cliffside overlook, the tension peaks. Every time Mia tries to pose for a romantic couple’s photo, Ryan beckons Isla to join, or spends ten minutes directing Isla for "the perfect aesthetic solo shot" while Mia stands sidelined.
"You look stunning, Isla! Move slightly left," Ryan cheers, ignoring Mia’s growing silence.
Mia finally snaps. "This was supposed to be our anniversary, Ryan. Not a photoshoot for her!"
"Don't be jealous, Mia, she’s just a friend," Ryan huffs, defensive.
"If she doesn't go, then I will," Mia declares, her voice trembling. "It’s meant to be you and me, but it's always her."
She turns and storms down the trail alone. Ryan looks down at his camera, scrolling through a hundred photos of Isla and only two blurry ones of Mia. The weight of his neglect finally hits him like a physical blow.
"Mia, wait!" Ryan shouts, his voice echoing off the canyon walls as he finally starts to run after her.
