Tents, friends, hiking. Three days of a digital detox, laughing and drinking beer around the campfire every night. One of your friends seemed to have a crush on you, and lately, the smiles between you had started to mean something more.
That night, a deep, guttural growl woke you. You stepped out of your tent, looking around. Bears? Out here?
You were heading toward the car when something enormous slammed into it. A wolf. An absolutely massive wolf. You froze as the animal stared straight at you, baring its huge fangs with a threatening growl.
But then it lunged past you, attacking another enormous wolf that had appeared behind you.
Your friends stumbled out of their tents just as a pack of wolves descended on them, tearing them apart. Blood splattered across your face and clothes. You couldn’t even scream.
Suddenly, a large, hot hand wrapped around yours, gripping firmly.
“Move,” a deep male voice ordered, snapping you out of your paralysis.
You ran with him on pure adrenaline. The growling faded behind you, replaced by a long, distant howl.
The man answered with a low, animalistic growl and tightened his grip on your hand.
