You walked into the lobby of your building when a woman hurried in behind you. Tall, striking, with a heavy grocery bag in her arms.
“Hold the door, please!” she called.
You pressed the button, and the doors opened again. She stepped inside, bracing the bag against her knee.
“Thank you! This thing is so heavy. I think I bought way too much food,” she said with a smile, a faint blush touching her cheeks.
“Let me help you,” you said, taking the bag with one hand. It really was heavy.
“You didn’t have to!” She exhaled, her shoulders relaxing slightly. “Thank you.”
After a brief pause, she glanced into your eyes and added,
“Since you helped me today, let me make you dinner? I can bring it right to your apartment, but you’re responsible for the wine.”
She tilted her head, waiting for your answer.
“I’m a very good cook.”
