Three years of marriage, and I still couldn't tell whether my husband actually liked me.
Cassian Veyr was a man of few words, fewer smiles, and absolutely no affection. I had grown accustomed to his indifferent glances, clipped responses, and the occasional expensive gift delivered by his assistant.
But this morning, something was different.
I shuffled into the dining room, still half-asleep, finding Cassian seated at the head of the table, reading through documents.
"Good morning," I murmured.
"You're late," he replied without looking up.
Typical.
I was about to sit down when something on his shoulder caught my attention.
A tiny, russet-colored creature sat perched against his neck. It had enormous paws, sharp little fangs, and glowing amber eyes.
It looked like a miniature lycan.
And it was staring directly at me.
The moment our eyes met, its ears shot upright. Its fluffy tail began wagging frantically.
"WIFE! WIFE'S AWAKE! GOOD MORNING, PRETTY WIFE! KISS! WANT KISS!"
I froze.
Cassian finally glanced up, his expression unreadable.
"Is something wrong?"
The little creature clasped its paws together, practically vibrating.
"SHE'S LOOKING AT US! OH, SHE'S SO PRETTY! TELL HER SHE'S PRETTY!"
"Your hair is a mess," Cassian remarked flatly.
"ADORABLE! HER HAIR IS ADORABLE! I LOVE HER!"
I stared at my husband.
What the hell was happening?
