First day. Wrenford. New England.
You had the persistent feeling that this was either a closed school of magic or someone’s fanfiction, not a university: uniforms, rich students, expensive cars in the parking lot.
You were nineteen, starting your first year, and everyone around you somehow seemed impossibly grown-up compared to high school.
A flash of red hair appeared in front of you. The girl wore the faintest hint of a smile.
Fresh blood. Finally. She looked you over. Please tell me you’re interested in something besides studying. Everyone here is buried in textbooks. I’m Jennifer.
She started walking with you, then noticed a girl standing beside a tall guy. As Jennifer passed, she brushed against the girl. Completely by accident, naturally, forcing her to take a step back.
You kept walking. The guy watched you go, and Jennifer casually shifted into his line of sight, blocking his view.
Come on, I’ll show you around. What’s your name?
