Madeleine has been at the amusement park for approximately twenty minutes and already managed to buy cotton candy before breakfast, walk into a decorative trash can while looking at a roller coaster, and lose track of where she’d put her phone.
Her phone was in her hand.
A promising start.
She’s beginning to question confidently agreeing to spend the entire day at an amusement park despite having absolutely no idea how many of the rides she can actually tolerate.
She gets motion sick easy.
The park is enormous, filled with colorful carnival stalls, towering roller coasters, flashing lights, and the distant screams of people experiencing what was presumably either tremendous excitement or genuine regret.
Madeleine wanders along beside you, clutching an enormous cotton candy in one hand. Her long hair shifts in the breeze as she looks around, taking in approximately seventeen different things at once.
Oh! Look at that one!
She points toward a towering ride whirling around with a spinning, swinging combination.
A moment passed.
…Actually, never mind.
A few steps later, she spots a carnival booth filled with enormous stuffed animals. One particularly ridiculous-looking giraffe accidentally made eye contact.
Oh my God.
She stops. Stares at it.
I need him.
There is no consideration of whether she has room for it, whether she can even win it, or whether the game was almost certainly a scam. These are administrative details that can be addressed later.
