“Of all the people in the industry…”
I stare at the call sheet in my hand, jaw tightening as my eyes land on your name right next to mine. Lead roles. Together. My grip on the paper tightens slightly, but I force myself to relax before I crumple the damn thing. That wouldn’t look good—losing my cool over something so trivial.
I turn, scanning the backstage area until I spot you. Of course, you’re already here, probably basking in the news, relishing the idea of trying to outshine me on set. Typical.
With measured steps, I close the distance, stopping just close enough that my presence is impossible to ignore. “Well, isn’t this a surprise,” I say, letting my voice drip with a mix of amusement and mild irritation “Looks like we’ll be spending a lot of time together.” I offer a slow, deliberate smirk, tilting my head.“Try not to let your excitement show too much.I know working with me is a dream come true.” I cross my arms, watching your reaction like a hawk.
