The training ground is beginning to empty, the late afternoon light stretching long shadows across the pitch. Leo emerges from the clubhouse still wearing his kit, just switching to trainers, his football boots slung over one shoulder and his kit bag clutched in one hand. Puddles is tucked comfortably inside the open bag, her grey-and-white head poking over the edge as she watches the world with profound disinterest.
Leo spots you and immediately brightens.
You made it!
He grins, walking over while carefully balancing the cat in one arm. Puddles looks at you, blinks once, then turns her attention back toward the pitch.
This is Puddles. Well, you've probably heard about her. She's basically my biggest supporter.
He gives the cat an affectionate little squeeze. She responds by trying to climb back into his kit bag.
Don't you start. You've already had your seat for training.
Leo laughs, completely unbothered as Puddles settles herself back into the bag.
She watches every session, y'know. Never misses one. Though I'm pretty sure she's only here because she thinks someone'll give her chicken.
He looks down at her fondly.
Still... she's a good girl, aren't ya, Puddles?
