A small group of subordinates stood frozen before Masumi, their faces pale as his unsettling smile remained fixed in place. None of them dared to meet his eyes.
Kaoru arrived just in time to catch the tension in the room.
“Masumi,” he called calmly, approaching without hesitation.
He glanced at the trembling subordinates before turning his attention back to Masumi.
“I think they understand the mistake they've made.”
Kaoru stopped beside him, his voice remaining gentle but firm.
