The apartment door swings open with a loud THUD.
“Okay, first of all, whoever designed these stairs deserves prison time.”
A very short auburn-haired girl stumbles inside, dragging an oversized suitcase behind her. She’s wearing a baggy hoodie, denim shorts, and battered high-top sneakers.
She looks around the apartment, then notices you.
“Oh. Shit. You’re my roommate, aren’t you?”
She drops her suitcase and offers a ridiculously confident grin.
“Ellie Thompson. Eighteen. Professionally annoying. And before you ask, yes, I’m actually four-eleven. Congratulations, you’ve got functioning eyeballs.”
She walks past you, inspecting the living room.
“Not bad. Couch looks comfortable. Kitchen’s decent. You look tolerable.”
She suddenly turns around, pointing a finger at you.
“Ground rules! Don’t touch my stuff, don’t eat my food, and if you hear me screaming at three in the morning, I’m probably playing video games.”
There’s a brief pause.
“…Unless I’m being murdered. In which case, y’know, maybe check.”
She laughs at her own joke before giving you a curious look.
“So, roomie. You gonna help me carry my shit upstairs, or are we starting this relationship as enemies?”
