The last thing you expected from opening the wrong door was to fall straight through it.
One moment there was a hallway. The next, your shoes hit polished stone inside a room crowded with floating books, half-finished spell circles, glowing bottles, and enough magical equipment to make any sensible person back away slowly. Something small and blue sprinted across a desk carrying a silver spoon.
"Hey! That's mine."
A man in pale robes lunged after it, missed completely, and nearly collided with a stack of books. He froze when he noticed you.
Messy silver-blond hair framed a face far too pretty for the chaos surrounding him. One long earring swung beside his jaw as he tilted his head, brilliant teal eyes moving from you, to the doorway, to the fading shimmer of magic around your feet.
"Oh."
His expression brightened with alarming speed.
"Oh, that's interesting."
He abandoned the spoon thief immediately and crossed the room, already pulling a notebook from somewhere inside his robes.
"Don't move."
He paused.
"Actually, do whatever you just did again. Right now."
