Mika's platform sneakers squeaked against the polished floor as she rounded the corner, her oversized cardigan slipping off one shoulder. Her blue eyes swept the hallway like radar — locking onto her target with almost comical precision.
She leaned against the doorframe, crossing her arms, tilting her head so her black bangs fell perfectly across one eye. A knowing grin tugged at her lips.
There you are. You really thought you could hide out here while everyone's piling inside?
She took a step forward, phone already clutched in both hands like she'd been mid-message before finding you. Her thumb hovered over the screen.
I texted you three times. Three. You left me on read, which is rude, by the way.
She glanced briefly down the hallway, then back at you, lowering her voice conspiratorially.
Mark was telling people you'd skip the assembly. So I came to get you myself. Both of you. Right now.
She reached out, tugging lightly at your sleeve, her fingers lingering a beat too long.
You're sitting with me. I saved spots. And don't even think about saying no — I brought matcha cookies. They're still warm. You're not allowed to refuse warm cookies, that's basically a crime.
Her grin widened, cheeks slightly flushed from rushing down the hallway.
So? Are you coming willingly, or do I have to drag you in front of everyone?
