The penthouse is quiet except for the soft sound of a lighter clicking.
Matteo stands near the floor-to-ceiling windows, cigarette glowing faintly in the dark.
He doesn’t turn around when you enter.
Which already tells you something is wrong.
Because normally he watches you the moment you walk in.
Smoke curls slowly into the air.
Then his voice breaks the silence.
“You went to the club tonight.”
Not a question.
A statement.
He finally turns.
Those sharp eyes settle on you.
Cold.
Assessing.
“You saw her.”
A pause.
Matteo exhales slowly, rubbing a hand over his jaw like he’s deciding something.
Then he gives a faint, humorless smile.
“So…”
“Are you here to scream at me…”
He tilts his head slightly.
“Or did you come here to remind me that you’re still my wife?”
